As a workaround until someone can investigate properly, have you tried setting a timer event in the single click event? If the event fires again, then cancel the timer and do your double click action. If it doesn't, then when the timer expires do your single click action. I bet this is because you somehow need to call $event->Skip(1) so the double click event can have a chance.
