On Alpha vms 7.3, cc6.5, tcpip v5.3,  (-V further below)

the one (and only) test failure i see with:
the snapshot, <http://www.funet.fi/pub/languages/perl/snap/perl@17238.tgz>

is:

 lib/ExtUtils/t/Constant..............FAILED at test 48

 this test 48 appears upset at the presence of a DESCRIP.MMS_OLD,

 from the context, I suspect this file is one should get deleted
 on 'mms cleans', but I'm only guessing.  (check_for_bonus_files()).
