Rescuing old alphas off eBay can be fun but time-consuming since you often have to hunt for supported replacements for things like graphics and scsi controllers. >So, would anyone like to take them over? Send me the details. (But this doesn't get the rest of you off the hook for sending in bug reports and patches). >This would, (nudge, nudge) be a good time to throw a couple of bucks >into the perl foundation pot at http://www.perl-foundation.org. Hmm. Looks like the fund drive is going ok but is only about 1/3 of the way to its goal. I will twist my credit card and see if I can wring a few drops out of it. For those unfamiliar with volunteer fund-raising, a large number of small contributors is just as good as (and in some ways better than) a small number of large contributors. If everyone who uses Perl regularly chips in an amount ranging from what you'd spend on a Perl book to what you'd spend for a day at a trade show, Perl will just get that much better that much sooner. And I'd like to point out that this may be the only time the Perl Foundation gives us the opportunity to fund a VMS guru to develop the next generation of Perl. -- ____________________________________________ Craig A.
