auth_smtpd plugin without TLS

I am using qpsmtpd and smtp_forward plugin to redirect to a qmail-ldap
server running on 2525 port.

qmail is configured to use smtp auth (with no TLS encryption) and
relay is permited only to validated users.

But when I try to use auth_smtpd plugin, the users connaot get
validation because TLS. (I think this is the cause).

Do you have any clue to solve the problem?
