That idea, as you may know, has come up quite a few times. It's been seen that trying to create a big one-size-fits-all SDK doesn't work (which is not what you're suggesting, I just wanted to get that idea out of the way). Several small, domain-specific SDKs would imho be a good idea indeed. I know that there was talk about doing this amongst the XML community. Imho a good way to get there would be for domain-specific groups (SIGs in fact) to come up with their own SDKs.
