This is probably a minor thing, but confusing (to me) nonetheless.
The file 'test' is automatically generated by Configure.pl but is
not listed either in MANIFEST.SKIP or .cvsignore, which makes it
listed as "extra" in the output of 'tools/dev/manicheck.pl'.
I would guess that MANIFEST.SKIP would be the right place to put
it but I'm not sure.
