I was thinking of things like when exactly FETCH() is called; traditionally
we haven't well-defined this in other parts of perl and I see no reason
to tie our hands here.

The warp engines start playing up a bit, but seem to sort themselves out
after a while without any intervention from boy genius Wesley Crusher.
