Until we get to those kinds of specifics, I think this sort of sentiment is good in theory and difficult in practice. Right now, the active members of p5p *are* the representatives of various communities that have an interest in the future direction of Perl. Many of the high-river CPAN authors already participate. Representatives from some of the largest corporate sponsors of Perl already participate. This is a volunteer-run project. The way people get to have a voice is by showing up. p5p has been the forum for sharing opinions for a very, very long time. Thus, I don't think we need a different user group for input. We have the people we have at this point. I do think we could stand to have more up-front planning and discussion about the evolution of the language and less of the random-walk of feature evolution by committers with an itch to scratch.
