There could possibly be a deadline for new features that are born
experimental, such as saying that an experimental feature has five
years to become non-experimental or it will be removed.  But that
wouldn't apply to smartmatch, which was non-experimental for years
before it became experimental, a situation that as far as I can
remember is unique.
