I try to maintain an overall arc across the year of doing 'big' stuff early in the release cycle, then concentrate on fixing regressions and getting smokes clean etc in the months leading towards the May release. I tend to be swept off course by: * having a quick look at a new ticket which then turns into something bigger; * having a sudden idea which I have a "quick" look at; * months' worth of fixing BBC tickets from "simple" changes earlier on in the year; * putting off things I've promised to do but are too big or horrific to contemplate (like signatures); * losing enthusiasm completely and reading reddit instead. I have a Big List of Things To Do, split into various categories (like optimisations, projects (signatures, implement HV vtables, etc), stuff to do before 5.26 etc), and try to work on the bigger stuff when I have time away from just keeping perl going. -- You live and learn (although usually you just live).Thread Previous | Thread Next
