Then I have no objections, so long as we have something in perlhack to tell people “Hey, if you check revision history and it seems strange that half the file got revised on the same day in late 2016, check it again with the -w flag”. I’d also hope that a mass tabs-to-space conversion program would also trim off trailing whitespace from each line.
