In any event, I agree with the logic in Tom's patch and believe it is worth trying out. I have pushed it to this smoke-testing branch: smoke-me/jkeenan/129229-cwd-dependency Please try this out on multiple OSes, as the fix will apply to all platforms, not just FreeBSD.
