I think this is a good idea, but unfortunately when run under harness, 
the file that has the error is not displayed, so you have to run it by 
hand anyway.

When you do that, the error text is displayed out of context, so it's 
worse than before.  Adding a $|=1 fixes that, but the problem I 
mentioned above remains.
