Perl 5.24.1-RC2 is now available!
Message ID:
When we had crossed the threshold of that gate
Which the soul's evil loves put out of use,
Because they make the crooked path seem straight,

I heard its closing clang ring clamorous,
And had I then turned back my eyes to it
How could my fault have found the least excuse?

We had to climb now through a rocky slit
Which ran from side to side in many a swerve,
As runs the wave in onset and retreat.

"Now here," the master said, "we must observe
Some little caution, hugging now this wall,
Now that, upon the far side of the curve."

-- Dante Alighieri, trans. Dorothy L. Sayers, "The Divine Comedy",
       Cantica II: Purgatory, Canto X

in the "pod" directory inside the release and on the web.

***Please, please, please*** test your code against perl-5.24.1-RC2.
This is your last chance to point out any critical regressions before
v5.24.1 ships "for real," and we'd rather fix things for v5.24.1 than
for v5.24.2!

The final v5.24.1 is expected to ship within the next week.
