I am all for meaningful deprecations. That’s why we should rescind all
ultra-historic deprecations and call them merely discouraged – because
that’s effectively what the term meant back when they were declared.

And it would be best to do this in one fell swoop for all of them, so we
don’t end up with a trickle of “p5p undeprecated another feature” over
a long period, which would also serve to undermine the perception that
deprecation means business.

Clean the slate, then make sure any deprecation beyond that point has
a deadline. That’s how the term becomes meaningful.
