Hi, IBM Unix System Services developement is going to look into changing the output of the uname command to z/OS instead of OS/390. No promises were made. I have passed on your concerns to the development team. They will make an assessment and determination as to what needs to be done in order to correct the issue. This will help with the porting of perl 5.21. If this change is not made the latest Perl will display the incorrect operating system. OS/390 reached end of life 10 years ago. I think It is time to change. "uname" and "uname -a" should display z/OS not OS/390. Using the non-standard "uname -I" to display z/OS would require many changes to the Perl language.
