DAVEM TPF grant#2 report #46, #47

(this report covers 2 weeks)

The main things I did over the last two weeks was more review and
fixing-up/preparing for smoking of cyber's method calling work, and
some after-the-fact tidying up of my op_private auto-generation
work (basically do some bits and pieces that I had noted, but didn't
need to be done as part of the main work).
