I have temporary access to a Linux VPS on which t/porting/libperl.t fails because the nm output does not contain memcmp.

I see that this test is skipped on freebsd:

    # In some FreeBSD versions memcmp disappears (compiler inlining?).
    if (($^O eq 'freebsd' ||
         (defined $fake_style && $fake_style eq 'freebsd')) &&
        $symbol eq 'memcmp' && @o == 0) {
        SKIP: {
            skip("freebsd memcmp");
        }
    } else {
        ok(@o, "uses $symbol (@o)");
    }

Should it be skipped on Linux, too? or only on some Linuces?

If it would be of any help, I can attach sv.o.
