Until the recent upgrade of rt.perl.org, there was a link present at the top of each ticket called "Mark Spam." Those of us with RT ticket-handling privileges could zap an obvious spam ticket with one click. (Hey, there's a business concept!) The recent upgrade -- the product of a lot of effort on the part of the Best Practical folks -- has considerably improved the appearance of rt.perl.org. The only complaint I have is: It now takes two clicks -- by two different people -- to classify a ticket as spam. From #p5p: 19:22 kid51 My nightly request for people with RT/bitcard privs to hit the big red 'S' to delete these spam tickets. 19:22 kid51 https://rt.perl.org/rt3/Ticket/Display.html?id=120612 19:22 dipsy [ Bug #120612 for perl5: Nova Parceria ] 19:22 kid51 https://rt.perl.org/rt3/Ticket/Display.html?id=120611 19:22 dipsy [ Bug #120611 for perl5: Nova Parceria ] At the time I posted this request, these two tickets were 14 and 13 hours old, respectively. To classify these as spam and get them deleted, I clicked on the big 'S' at the top of the page a couple of hours ago. But now, all that that accomplishes is to move the spam tickets into our Open queue, thereby artificially inflating our count of open tickets. I then have to go on IRC to request that a *second* person go to RT, click on the big 'S', and thereby cause these tickets to be deleted. Now, to be sure, per bulk88 you now merely need to have an RT Bitcard account in order to hit the 'S' and have it count. Previously, you had to have RT ticket-handling privileges. Nonetheless, this is extra work for us and, to be frank, for me in particular. And it means that spam tickets remain much longer on the list of (newest) "Unowned Tickets" one sees upon login at https://rt.perl.org/. So it's not just unnecessary work; it's public embarrassment as well. I request that we return to the previous system: Spam tickets should be deletable via one click from a trusted RT user. Thank you very much. Jim KeenanThread Next
