Approximately 7 tickets were worked on.

I spent a fair amount of time this week fixing issues noticed by
Father Chrysostomos with the safesyscalls patch.  My changes mirrored
the original in assuming that the implicit SvGETMAGIC() done by SvPV()
and friends was enough to populate the SVf_POK flag and SvPVX, which
isn't the case for string overloaded references.  I re-worked the
check function to accept a string base and length and modified each
