Please improve. IMO this is just fine. I might have put them in t/re/re_tests but where you put them is ok as well. The main difference is the t/re/re_tests get run in a bunch of variant forms so are probably more exhaustive that pat_advanced. In general pat_advanced.t and related files are used to test things that require perl code to test, or which have caused segfaults in the past.
