+1 from me too.

We have this wonderful open source resource here - namely, the whole of
CPAN, complete with unit tests and a decent smoke-testing
infrastructure. We don't have to fly blind on these sorts of questions.
Easiest is to just try it out - a "whatif?" against the whole CPAN is
actually quite feasible.
