As much as I like checking items off of lists, I can't picture someone
wanting that.

"I don't want people to grow accustomed to long deprecation cycles."
"I want the things we agreed should be removed to be removed."

Yves is viewing deprecation as approval for removal. The technical merits
have already been evaluated. The decision to break code has already been
made.
