That would have been so several years ago. I don't think it works like
that nowadays.

 Hosting provider: Here's your system. Good luck.
 Client: Hey, I need perl!
 Hosting provider: Perl's on the system.
 Client: But I need to install modules to get my web application going.
 Hosting provider: Can't do. Please use php / ruby / ...  instead.
