[perl #117327] Sequence (?#...) not recognized in regex

Fixed as commit 182b0c3f66c6c5a93e9dab9bf0162091942bb5f9
which reverts the patch that caused the problem, adding a test and comments.

Commit 000947ada5b027f394ee63b5166df8c06b64a74e
deprecates splitting appart the (? and (* tokens.
