[perl #117311] [PATCH] B::Deparse with option -l leaves formfeed characters in its output
Message ID:
rt-3.6.HEAD-28177-1364060270-293.117311-75-0@perl.org
# New Ticket Created by heiko.eissfeldt@hexco.de

B::Deparse -l inserts formfeeds (^L) into its output for input code like this:

perl -MO=Deparse,-l -e'map{ eval(0) }()'

=>
#line 1 "-e"
map {
     #line 1 "-e"
eval 0;} ();
-e syntax OK

as can be seen better when the output is piped to 'less'

-e syntax OK
#line 1 "-e"
map {^L#line 1 "-e"
eval 0;} ();

NB: The formfeed character inserted after the first '{'.
When this output is fed into PPI, PPI does not like it and chokes.

The problem is that B::Deparse::indent() does not expect any "\f" formatting
other than in the first column, and leaves the remaining "\f"s
in the line unprocessed.

I have prepared a patch and a new test case, which I will append
afterwards.

Best wishes, hexcoder (@cpan and perlmonks)
