Suggestion for Reaching a Verdict on Subroutine Signatures: Let thePumpking Decide

Hi all,

as I noted during a discussion on Facebook (see
http://www.facebook.com/groups/100858186649890/permalink/434412059961166/ , but
you won't need to have Facebook to understand what I'm saying here), the current
situation with no verdict reached for the technicalities of implementing
subroutine signatures (i.e: the status quo) is the worst possible solution. So
what I suggest is that:

1. Someone will summarise the basic points of dispute and uncertainty in a nice
flowchart or cross-product thereof.

2. The pumpking will decide on which combination of options they prefer, and
posts it to the list. He can give his reasonings or he can just say “I rolled a
few dice”.

3. Then the pumpking and other porters (possibly with my help) can do the really
hard job of actually implementing the subroutine signatures, for the benefit of
all man kind, and to achieve world domination.

----

Do everyone agree?

Regards,
