Thanks both of you for your input. When inlining what sitecustomize adds 
to the code, one can now see that it can be reproduced with any perl 
5.10+ on (I guess) any system with :

    perl -le "BEGIN { do { my @x; 1 } } print sub { (caller 0)[8] }->()"

I suspect that the hint is leaked from that do block.
