Those lines (lines 52-54 after both patches are applied) lead into 
another test:

 51 $x = 0;
 52 ++$y;
 53 $i = !$x && $y;
 54 is( $i, 10, 'negation precedence with &&' );

Note, there's a 2 line offset between the original patch and this code 
due to removing a comment and a blank line.
