rc0 and rc1 progress

Here are the things that came up and got fixed:

* perldelta needed help; it got lots; thanks!
* the bz2 file was not recorded properly by PAUSE; if this happens again, it
will be fixed; nothing to be done about it now
* Module::CoreList was busted; now it isn't!

Here are things not fixed:

* some modules will now BOOT twice; this is caused by a bugfix and probably
should be fixed in the modules

* Windows 7 with VC++ hangs during testing; nobody seems to know what is going
on... and things seem much better if STDERR is redirected

* library path detection is not working reliably on Ubuntu 12.04
  [perl #112866]

* we're sometimes being confused by pathconf on Ubuntu 12.04 setting an errno
  but succeeding

I hunted around on IRC looking for helpful Ubuntu experts to help on those last
two, but without much luck. Does anyone want to hook me up with the right
people to bug on the right channel?

I'm setting up an Ubuntu virt to have a look, at least, at the library path
detection bug. I'm afraid that this did not make it into RT, but it will if I
can reproduce it -- and if someone else out there can reliably reproduce it,
please let me know. (abraxxa on IRC could, but he's not available at the
moment.)

Paul Johnson said he'd have a crack at the POSIX problem this weekend, unless
someone beats him to it. All solutions are welcome.

As for the Windows failures, I am very keen to see them fixed, but I have
nothing to offer but pleas for experts to kick in. If no expert can promise
time on this, I am likely to consider it a known problem and move ahead. I
would *very much prefer* not to do this. Let me know if I can help you help
us.

Expect RC1 sometime between tomorrow and Monday evening.
