Since the original use-case in Parrot was handled by other means, the
practical problem no longer applies.  I wrote a program making similar
use of Tie File (v. 0.97_02) and Perl 5.14.0 and was unable to reproduce
the problem.

(Sorry about not responding.  IIRC, this was the first bug I ever filed
using 'perlbug', but, for various reasons, I stopped using the email
address from which it was filed.)
