Cool.  I'm not in a rush to change its status, but I'm enjoying watching things
get sorted out (more conceptually than the code fixing).  I'm sure there's
plenty of other conceptual clarification needed.  The suggestion of /[$qr]/ was
a good one, for example.

I look forward to seeing this work continue.  Thanks again for your willingness
to slog through it!
