While not strictly on-topic for p5p@, would anyone be able to recommend
a good approach to get these functions out to CPAN, for the benefit of
older perls? I'd like to use the IPV6_V6ONLY socket option in
IO::Socket::IP at least (see

Were we able to dual-life Socket, it would make that relatively simple -
just bump the CPAN version. Alas, having looked at its build process it
seems a bit too closely tied to core.

Does anyone have a feel for how hard it would be to be able to dual-life
Socket, such that we could release this version with the 'v6 sockopts
out to CPAN?
