Hello,
there is a problem with ?= and the AIX make.

See:

Makefile:

# If you're going to use valgrind and it can't be invoked as plain valgrind
# then you'll need to change this, or override it on the make command line.
VALGRIND ?= valgrind
VG_TEST  ?= ./perl -e 1 2>/dev/null

->

"Makefile", line 103: make: 1254-055 Dependency line needs colon or
double colon operator.
"Makefile", line 104: make: 1254-055 Dependency line needs colon or
double colon operator.
make: 1254-058 Fatal errors encountered -- cannot continue.

It it really necessary to use "?=" here ?
