$ perl -lwe 'print "@$_" for [stat "miniperl"],[lstat _]'
The stat preceding lstat() wasn't an lstat at -e line 1.
But If I put an asterisk there, it works:
$ perl -lwe 'print "@$_" for [stat "miniperl"],[lstat *_]'
234881026 37680265 33261 1 503 20 0 2734540 1315720341 1315718890 1315718890 4096 5344
234881026 37680265 33261 1 503 20 0 2734540 1315720341 1315718890 1315718890 4096 5344
And it’s using the previous stat buffer, even though it wasn’t an lstat. Isn’t that supposed to die?
Here’s another difference:
$ perl -lwe 'lstat STDIN'
lstat() on filehandle STDIN at -e line 1.
$ perl -lwe 'lstat *STDIN'
Shouldn’t the * form warn, too?
