This is a bug report for perl from mjd@plover.com,
generated with the help of perlbug 1.36 running under perl 5.10.0.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
[Please enter your report here]

% perl -wle 'opendir $d, "." or die; print "$d>>", fileno $d'
Use of uninitialized value in print at -e line 1.
GLOB(0x8f99880)>>

Perl doesn't provide any way to call the POSIX 'fsync' function on a
directory. If I could get the file descriptor, I could pass it to
POSIX::fsync, or even use syscall(), but fileno is broken.
