That's why I'd like to see part of the responsibilities of the monthly release manager include the review of commits for cherry picking. (Admittedly, I'm not doing a very good job of that this month so far.) That's an extra bit of work, but given that perldelta construction seems to consist of commit-by-commit review anyway, it's only an extra step to an existing process. There's always been a small handful of people -- my impression is that the number has expanded a bit with the expansion of commit bits and the monthly release cycle.
