I haven't been paying sufficient attention to the day-to-day, week-by-week grind on this list, and I apologize for asking what must seem to everyone else like a dumb question. I wake up periodically and unbreak the Perl build on VOS, and then I go away again for a while. I will update my scripts to run my regression tests against the more recent (and supported) copies of Perl. I agree that there isn't much point in just making patches that unbreak the build of an unsupported release; I think that putting out a new release should provide a rather wide set of assurances; getting it to build is the least of the concerns. Being able to give a nice crisp answer ("Perl 5.8 is no longer supported") is far better than giving a long and complicated (and ultimately confusing) answer. PGThread Previous | Thread Next
