Dearest porters,

I'd love it if a few of you could tell me if:

http://fsck.com/~jesse/tmp/2010-03-21/cleAh3RJL3Q=/perl-5.12.0-RC0.tar.gz

builds for you.

If I get a couple PASSes, I'll push the tag and upload to CPAN and we
can catalog all of the smokes that need to be addressed to get out an
RC1 that has a good chance of becoming 5.12.0.

I'm still wrangling a few details of the plan for
immediately-post-5.12.0, but the rough sketch of what's coming up is:

* RC1 comes out "soon"
* If we find a showstopper within 7 days, we fix it and release another RC
* If we get to RCn + 7 days without discovering a showstopper bug, I
will release the code that makes up that RC as 5.12.0.

* Approximately 3 weeks after 5.12.0, I'll prepare the first RC for
5.12.1 with whatever serious issues or portability fixes have been
discovered to date. Depending on what is or isn't found after the
release of 5.12.0, you may see a 5.12.1 sooner or a bit later.

* At some point, shortly after 5.12.0 comes out, blead will reopen and
new work will once again be welcome on blead. I'd _like_ to make sure
we keep our focus on the .0 release for a few weeks after it ships, so
that we can find and address issues quickly.

Best,
Jesse
