Applying the occasional patch to the old-maint branch wouldn't be a 
problem for me. (if I understand the patch as such, which is a big if!) 
But since I'm not suited as a blead/maint/whatever pumpking, and the 
policy has been that application to !blead is done by only one person, I 
won't do that.

There will have to be a policy decision on this issue or someone who 
steps up to the WHOLE task.
