After reading the proposal, this was my main beef: A lot more non-\w 
syntax for (arguably) a single feature*. The one exception is that in my 
head, for some reason, I already have := hardwired to be some sort of 
binding/aliasing operation. Not sure where I got that from.

Chip, thanks for doing the hard work with respect to design AND 
implementation of such an important and difficult step. There isn't all 
that many people who could spearhead such an effort and I'm glad you 
took it on. Thank you!
