Yes, I certainly agree that's a logical inconsistency.  Alas, it's one we 
have to live with.

Absolutely.  Otherwise, we aren't testing it thoroughly.  (Also think 
installation directories, binary compatibility with previous releases, 
etc.)

Or which installed itself as perl0.000, for example.
