It certainly might be an opportunity for Dave M to delegate the
problem of figuring out the release process in the world of git.

I hope that's less of an issue these days with CPAN Testers operating
at more scale.  It's not automated, but if if Dave wants all of CPAN
(or a subset) smoked against a particular commit (at least on Linux),
I can probably turn that around in under a week.  Or I can smoke two
separate commits and give the test grade deltas between them (doubles
the time, though).  I suspect BinGOs and Andreas could be enlisted as
well for other operating systems.
