I have download and built the release 5.8.9-RC2 on AIX 6.1 platform using
gcc compiler.

I can now compile without issue. I will import my customized functions into
this new release.

gcc should work with the upcomming 5.8.9 release of Perl.

Tested: gcc 3.3.2 + 4.2.4 (32 + 64*) on AIX 5.1 / 5.2 / 5.3 / 6.1
(shared + thread OK)


* 6.1 need a fix for libc.a - see README.aix
