Steve Hay mailed to ask whether README.macosx should change. Currently, it has "The latest Perl release (5.8.8 as of this writing)..." It's arguably correct. Dated, yes, but self-consistent. The version last changed as part of http://public.activestate.com/cgi-bin/perlbrowse/p/26038 -The latest Perl (5.8.1-RC3 as of this writing) builds without changes -under Mac OS X. Under the 10.3 "Panther" release, all self-tests pass, +The latest Perl (5.8.8 as of this writing) builds without changes +under Mac OS X. Under the 10.4 "Tiger" release, all self-tests pass, and all standard features are supported. so it's been horribly out of date at times. I'm not sure what to do, but as we've shipped a lot of perl versions without it saying the current version it seems reasonable to repeat a known working formula. Nicholas Clark
