This is a bug report generated with the help of perlbug 1.36 running
under perl 5.10.0.

I downloaded the source file package
"http://www.cpan.org/src/perl-5.10.0.tar.gz". The included script
"Configure" asked me some questions for program locations and
directories while reasonable default values like "/usr/bin/perl" and
"/usr/local" were provided.
I chose some options and tried a compilation. I decided to adjust a few
options and run the configuration script again.
I was surprised that a couple of dots were presented as new default
values that I did not change before in the previous run. I noticed that
the dots were recorded in the file "config.sh". So I replaced the dots
in assignments for variables like "binexp" and "prefix" with
understandable text by an editor.
I saw that the unexpected dots notation reappeared after each
reconfiguration try. Are there any open issues for the build script
maintenance?
