[ANNOUNCE] Pod-Perldoc 3.14_06 and request for comments
Message ID:
I just uploaded to CPAN a new development release of Pod-Perldoc. It
should appear after some propagation time at

The corresponding changes are:

        * Development release 3.14_06 -- Be lenient
        * 'perldoc intro' may find 'perlintro' page
          (suggested by Gisle Aas)
        * -v (Verbosely describe) is now -D
        * perldoc -v PerlVar

which means:

1) "perldoc foo" will look for "perlfoo" page when "foo" was not
encountered. That way, "perldoc intro", "perldoc var" will do a
sensible thing. (Blame Gisle ;-) )

2) formerly "-v" was used to tell "perldoc" to be more verbose about
what it was doing. Now this functionality is enabled by "-D".

3) after freeing "-v", we repurpose it to search Perl predefined
variables (leaving -A alone)

     perldoc -v '$:'
     perldoc -v @+
     perldoc -v %INC
     perldoc -v ARGV

This way, "-v" completes the trio:

     perl -f function
     perl -q faq
     perl -v var

If anyone sees some unsolvable issue with this incompatible interface
change, please speak up.
