I don't really see anything to forgive, because it's hardly a mistake to be
inexperienced. Anyway, you did the hard parts (identifying that there was a
problem, and making a patch to fix the problem); tidying up is easy in
comparison.

(And actually for some reason, today at least, I think I prefer a new function
going in as one commit, and shuffling the zombies off to mathoms.c as a
second commit, which is harder to do in e-mail)

Thanks for your continued work in digging down and locating the various
double-magic bugs.
