They weren't that sophisticated in what they did, mostly acting a wrapper to
hide (re-arranged) versions of the Perl 5 data structures behind PMCs.

I delayed working out how to fit them more optimally to Parrot's PMC
structures, as there was still a proposal on the table from Leo to radically
re-arrange the PMC structures, which would have voided any work I did.
I believe that that was settled within the past year, and within the past few
months the PMC refactoring branch has been merged, so what is there will be
what will be there for Parrot 1.0

I suspect that by now the Parrot code base has moved on sufficiently that it's
faster and cleaner to start from scratch than to try to merge over that code.
I might be wrong, but I'd suggest keeping "redo from start" as an option.
