I built and ran perl-5.8.x (patch level 33536) over the weekend with only a few test failures. I'm not too concerned about the test failures; when I dig into them, I almost always find that it is due to some minor difference between our POSIX implementation and the rest of the world's take on POSIX. In other words, it is almost always a VOS problem, and almost never a perl problem. For the record, here is the list of test failures: Failed 14 tests out of 1057, 98.68% okay. ../ext/B/t/concise.t ../ext/DynaLoader/t/DynaLoader.t ../ext/DynaLoader/t/XSLoader.t ../ext/IO/t/io_pipe.t ../ext/POSIX/t/time.t ../lib/File/Compare.t ../lib/Net/Ping/t/450_service.t ../lib/Net/Ping/t/510_ping_udp.t ../lib/Time/Local.t io/fs.t io/tell.t op/kill0.t op/magic.t op/sprintf.t This is good enough for me; don't block the release based on VOS. I will poke away at these failures and either fix VOS or submit the appropriate changes to Perl.
